Christmas

Christopher loved Christmas this year....he had been counting down on his advent calendar all month and couldnt wait! Chritmas eve was spent at home just the 3 of us(we dont get Marissa til Christmas day at 6pm!) We had a nice dinner and then Christopher was allowed to open 1 gift. Of course that gift was new pjs to wear to bed....He wasnt very excited, but I explained that we have to have new jammies for Christmas morning. He loved them and was very excited to wear them after hearing that. I messed up though and bought them a size too big...so we just rolled them up! After opening the present we put out our cookies and milk for Santa and sprinkled our reindeer food outside on the yard for the reindeer(can't forget about them) we enjoyed reading "The night before Christmas" before it was off to bed. Someone was a little too excited and it took him almost a hour to fall asleep! He was up bright and early too. He couldnt wait to see what Santa had brought him. Santa was very good to both the kids. Christopher got a batcave, a robot, a remote control car, a game, new transformer sheets, and some other toys. Marissa got alot of craft kits. We went over to moms house where Christoper got lots more toys and a new outfit and jammies. Both kids got mp3 players from nana which they haven't put down! Mike's family cam over in the evening and the kids got even more stuff. Marissa was very quick to put everything away! Mike and I had a great christmas as well bought ourselves a nitendo ds and several games....we have been hooked since Christmas.Christopher wants to play all the time too. He says the only thing he didnt get for Christmas was a DS! maybe we will buy him one for his birthday. It was a great day for everyone. We have been very blessed this year! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a very happy new year! Here are some pictures.

She's getting so big!

We got the chance to introduce Marissa to Katherine yesterday. She's growing so fast! Mom got a few pictures of all the kids together so I thought I would share them with you!

Halloween

I don't have too many pictures this year. Christopher was sick so we did a short version or trick-or-trating this year. Good news was that we had Marissa this year. Bad news was her motehr wouldn't let her come early so I didnt buy her a costume, but her a Mike made it home right when we were beginning so she got to come with us, just without a costume. Christopher was batman. He loves his costume and runs through the house with it. He actually has 2 costumes because my grandma bought him a dark knight costume and I bought him a batman one. Snoopy was a witch, but didnt want to wear her costume so Diego did. Our tradition of having Kim and Alexis over and getting Chinese for dinner was broken this year. COnsidering Kim had just got home from the hospital with Katherine she didnt want to bring her out. I don't blame her, but did miss trick-or-treating with my neice. I was going to visit them on my lunch break, but since my baby was sick I didn't want to bring any germs over. All and all it was a good night. Christopher was so funny telling everyone who called him batman to call him "MICHAEL" I have no clue where he got that from. We have more candy than we need, but eventually it will be gone wheter it gets eaten or not. It has another week and then its going in the trash...I am kinda tired of looking at it.

October

I can't believe that its been so long since I last posted...I kinda forgot my password and since I am using Mike's email I had a hard time resetting it. Anyways...October has been a busy month. Between all the birthdays, work, and getting ready for halloween. The kids are great! Marissa just celebrated her 9th birthday!!!!! The best part of her turning 9 is that she was with us. She has never spent a birthday with us. We had a nice party over at grandma Cindy's. She got a new bike from us and about $100! She loved going to toys r us to spend that money. Christopher is still my little clown. Always doing or saying something to make me laugh. His new thing is writing and drawing. He writes everything and loves to draw. He now can write his whole name and is very proud that he can write it. He says his "2nd name" is very long, but has no complaints about writing his last name. They are working on learning all thier letters at school and he gets homework every week. Its hard for me to believe that my baby is doing homeowrk. He has had a busy month at school with the firetruck visiting and a field trip to the pumpkin patch. He actually went to 2 different pumpkin patches in 3 days! Mom and I decided to take both the kids to the pumpkin patch last sunday and although it was cold the kids had fun. Christopher had a hard time deciding which pumpkin he wanted he had to get the"best one". Then they got to come home and carve it. That was fun. Mike is supposed to carve the other ones that we have since he has the talent to carve them. Christopher has also been on me about decorating the house for halloween. So we will be doing that this weekend. I have some exciting news...My brother and his girlfriend are expecting their daughter on monday! I can not wait to meet my new neice Katherine Danielle. Kim is scheduled to be induced 1st thing monday morning and mom will be in the delivery room as Katherine makes her entry. I will be sure to post a update when she arrives!

it's been a while!

We have been busy as you can tell since I haven't posted in almost a month! It's hard to find the time to do anything since I am back at work full time 9-6. There are not enough hours in the day! Especially when the boy has HOMEWORK!!! I can't believe my baby is doing homework already. He is doing great in preschool and making lots of new friends, even if he says he doesn't need any new friends he already has some! Marissa is now in 4th grade and likes her teacher, although some kids have been giving her a hard time. I am teaching the 3 year old class which is a big step up from the nfants I was with before! We took a nice vacation after working so hard ans we went camping or should I say Christopher went with mom and dad for Labor day. I went down for 1 night and we had fun. Christopher had fun fishing, swimming, hiking, chasing the camp ground's cat, and playing mini gof. I took a few pictures and will post some as soon as I get a chance to upload to the computer. We are having cake with family tomorrow to celebrate Mike's B-day 2 more years til the big 3-0!!!!!! I have already started planning the big celebration! Thats about all that has been happening around here. I promise I will try and post a little more....

Colorful baths and Fearful four

The kids found a new "toy" for bathtime. Colorful water! We picked up some color dotz made by crayola on our last trip to Walmart. The kids love them. You simply just drop 1 or 2 into your bath and it changes the color of the water. So far we have had a green bath, purple bath, orange bath, and a red pool. They love watching the 2 colors mix to make a new color. Christopher has learned that yellow and blue make green. He can also tell you that red and yellow make orange, although not a very orangy orange. Marissa loved teasing papa by tossing a couple red ones into the pool when he wasn't looking and they both cracked up when papa asked "what happened to the water?" They really thought they were slick and pulled a fast one on papa.
Christopher and Marissa both went to Grandma Cindy's house to spend the night until thursday. Well that didn't last long. Christopher was fine all day, but when I called to tell him goodnight it was meltdown. He wanted to come home. He missed me and wanted a hug. Well let me tell you that broke my heart! Cindy lives about 45 minutes away, so I really didn't want to rush over and scoop him up. Even though I know that he is going through something right now. He did the same thing we he spent the night at my moms a few weeks ago. Luckily she lives 10 minutes away. Well we gave it a bit and he still was upset, so Mike being the great Husband and father that he is went to meet his mom to pick up Christopher. Marissa is still there and having a blast. I don't know what it is about 4, but he is scared of everything. He has to check the doors at night to make sure they are locked. He needs to be reassured there are no MONSTERS or BAD GUYS. I know it's just a stage and I know he will get past it. I don't like seeing my baby scared and afraid of everything.
Mike spent the weekend putting new siding, windows, and storm doors up at our neighbor's house. He did a great job. He really enjoys doing jobs like that and is looking for more to do. I am getting ready to go back to work. I am really excited. I am going back to where I started and I am going to be teaching 2's to start with. Christopher will be in the Pre-K class. He is not too sure. But he has a wonderful teacher who is one of my great friends (she actually was the maid of honor in my wedding!) So I know he is in good hands. I will keep everyone posted. We have plans to go camping Labor day weekend so I am sure I will have more great stories to share.

The past week

The past week hasnt been very busy...we or should I say I did alot of laundry to catch up after our mini vacation, which Mike still is giving me crap about! Marissa went home on thursday and she will be back this thursday for another week..we can't wait!!! Christopher got a new toy box from a guy that Mike did a job for and he loves all the new toys that came with it. We had to throw a few away, but he got some very nice new toys. We enjoyed visiting with a child I used to teach and her mom...Christopher loved swimming in the pool and even let me take him down to the deep end on a noodle. We went and got some new shoes for Christopher as his were falling apart...He wanted Sketchers, but he is at the weird size where he isnt toddler and not quite big boy...can you believe that my baby wears a size 12!!!!???? Marissa is only wearing a 1. So they didnt have any in his size...So we settled on some really cute ones from Target...
Guess what I have some really good news....I got a JOB!!!! I start on august 18th and I am really excited....I will be the lead teacher for the 2's and 3's.. I will keep you updated. Well thats all the happenings on the Wade front this week. I am sure I will have lots of fun stories next week as it's always a adventure with Marissa and Christopher together....

Camping and Kings Dominion

We just got home from a busy couple of days. We left Sunday to go down to Virginia to the camp ground that I grew up camping at. The kids loved it. We went on a nature walk and played on the playground. Marissa loved finding bugs and frogs! She found 4 little frogs and 1 big frog. She also "babysat" the guy at the campground's cat, Jack. She took this job very seriously as Jack kept trying to run away and climb a tree! We went to the pool and Marissa showed us all her tricks, going under water, flips and headstands. She loved swimming under the water. Christopher was very hesitant and did NOT want to get in past the step. I had to coax him in slowly. But once he realzied he could touch there was no stopping him. He was walking back and forth and even jumped in a couple of times(to Nana). He slowly started showing off, jumping and doing "tricks". We went back to the campsite and Christopher really liked helping nana start the fire. He thought that breaking the sticks and putting them in the fire ring was the coolest thing. We had the traditional hotdogs and hamburgers and then went on a hunt for sticks. They both found great marshmallow sticks and we made Smore's. Then it was time for bed. We went to King's Dominion on Monday. Got there as soon as it opened. The kids were so excited, Christopher has never been to a amusement park. There was one bad part. I got stung by a bee! As soon as we got there we were walking and I felt something in my hair so I went to get it out, well it was a bee. My thumb has been swollen since yesterday and it is itchy and sore. Marissa got her picture taken with Spongebob and Patrick, Angelica, and Scooby doo! Christopher didnt want to, but he did wave. Christopher didnt want to do much. We did make him go on a few rides but he wasnt happy about it. Both kids loved the wave pool. It was hard to get them out of it. We went on one water slide, but I was afraid Christopher was going to fall out so it wasnt too enjoyable. We spent the whole day there and were exahusted when we left, but everyone had a GREAT day. Even after being out in the sun all day the kids wanted to go swimming when we got back to the campground. We all had a great weekend and I am looking forward to going back to the campground with Mike for Labor Day weekend.

Lemonade Stand

We had a lemonade stand yesterday. The kids and their friend from down the street did a great job. They made signs and did most of the work all by themselves. Marissa and "B" walked the neighboorhood recruiting and Christopher ran the table. They all had a job. Christopher was very good about yelling " Lemonade 25 cents" although he had to ask me a few times "what do I say again mom?" Marissa did the money, and "B" poured. They were a great team and nobody complained. I am VERY proud of them. They made a total of $28. Although I put in $10 to start with and "B's" mom put in $5. We still have some lemonade left, so we might just set it again this morning and see if the kids can make a few more dollars. Marissa and Christopher are using their share of the profit to have some spending money at King's Dominion.

1st time rollerskating

The kids had their first experience on rollerskates today. It was fun to watch. Neither one could keep their balance! Marissa held her own, but spent alot of time either in the grass of on her hands, knees, or bottom! Christopher had a death grip on me the whole time. But was laughing and smiling the whole time that I was rolling him around. After about 10-15 minutes the skates came off. I was done, my back was killing me. They weren't the only ones who had trouble though. Most of the other kids were grabbing onto any adult they could for support. It really was a sight. All and all everyone had a blast!

Some of Christopher's favorite things!

Thought I would post some pictures of Christopher doing some of the things he loves to do!

Christopher loves his swords...He is never without them!

He loves looking at his books. This is how I found him the other night. I had told him to go and look at books for 10 minutes til bedtime. Walked in his room and he had pulled a whole bunch out. Gotta say he did clean them up...

Christopher loves to wrestle....Anyone and everyone who will fight with him! Here we are having a wrestling match on the bed and had stopped for a minute. He is a mommy's boy!

He also loves tools! any tool...Daddy has been letting him use his power tools while we have been fixing the house up.

Christopher's injury

Well We had a eventful morning. We headed out to VBS and when we got there Christopher opened the door and we went in. Well I was talking to another teacher and then walked in to put my keys away. Next thing I know he is asking for a bandaid. I look over at him and his big toe is bleeding ALOT. No tears or anything. Well I scoop him up and take him into the bathroom and my friend helps me wash his toe off and then we put a bandaid on. Not even 5 minutes and the blood has soaked through the bandaid. well I knew right then that we had to see somebody. I called the dr and they saud to go to the ER. So off we went. 1 1/2 later and we were out of there with my poor baby having his big toe "glued" with dermabond. He has a pretty nasty cut on the big toe and its bruised up but he was tough. gotta keep shoes on so the glue stays, but he seems to be doing ok.

My 1st blog

Wow I am joining the era of blogging. I am very new at this, but figured I would give it a try. Now we will just see how much I actually post.
